The Art of Flight – Trailer

On 23, Feb 2011 | No Comments | In News, Videos | By Lisa

rb_flight_logo

No introduction necessary:

We’ll give you a minute to compose yourself.

The Art of Flight is the mind-melting work of Brain Farm Cinema (the producers of That’s It, That’s All), Quiksilver & Red Bull Media House due out this September. The film follows Travis Rice, John Jackson, Mark Landvik, Scotty Lago, Jake Blauvelt, Nicolas Muller, Gigi Ruf, DCP and Pat Moore as they progress the sport of snowboarding to unimaginable levels. Shot in Jackson Hole, Aspen, Alaska, British Columbia, & Patagonia, viewers can also expect to be blown away by the epic filming locations.

As if the multitude of rider talent wasn’t enough, Brain Farm’s advanced camera technologies capture unbelievably high quality footage. Thanks to their Cineflex HD, watching this on the big screen will be as close to riding shotgun in the Red Bull helicopter as you can get. If this was just a teaser, we can’t even begin to imagine what to expect in September.

BamBOO-YAH!

On 28, Dec 2010 | No Comments | In News, Updates | By Lisa

Earlier this year K2 unveiled its latest game-changer; the indestructible BamBooyah core. Taking it’s cue from a skate deck, the core is constructed from multiple cross-layers of bamboo and fiberglass ply. You get the best of both worlds; the lively, lightweight resilience of bamboo and the tried & true reinforcement of fiberglass.

Bambooyah! 12-20-10

The result is a durable, responsive board with pop; perfect for playtime in the park. Lots of freestyle boards are all talk when it comes to enduring abuse from rails &  landings, but K2′s so confident in its new tech it’s offering a 5-year warranty. Plus, all the benefits of using bamboo prove that if you’re nice to Mother Nature, she’ll be nice to you. Just look at its resume;

- Strength; has greater tensile strength and weight-to-strength ratio than steel, can withstand more pressure than graphite, & is more stable than oak or walnut.

- Growth Rate; has been recorded to grow as much as 24 inches in a 24 hr period & is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world. A plant that’s been cut can fully regenerate in just 3-4 months.

- Lightweight; not as heavy as most beech or poplar cores

-Flexibility; bamboo’s proven ability to bend and bounce back while still maintaining strength has made it a popular material for building structures in earthquake zones

- Sustainability; can be harvested annually with minimal impact on the environment and often doesn’t require replanting

…how’s that for eco-friendly? The K2 Fastplant is the first snowboard on the market to incorporate this technology. With it’s twin tip shape and jib rocker base, riding the Fastplant’s just about as fun as victoriously shouting “Bam BOO-YAH!” in public.

No wonder it’s earned a Best of Test award, Platinum Pick, and tons of rave-reviews. An everlasting, eco-conscious board with Don Pendleton graphics?! Bam BOO-YAH! (ok, that’s the last time. Promise.) Snag one & strap in while you still can!

New Meadowlands Stadium Sale

On 26, Nov 2010 | No Comments | In Events, News, Promotions, Updates | By Lisa

It’s official! This past weekend we announced our 2010 New Meadowlands Stadium Sale, a continuation of our annual Giants Stadium event but this time with some brand-new elements.

NMSnowboardflyer

In addition to our new location, we’re also excited to bring in a wider variety of brands, hold a new series of Super Clinics, and have a greater presence from our mountains. Skiers and riders in search of new set-ups will have tons of product to choose from and also walk away with a free lift ticket to Mountain Creek.

Stadium Busters boast discounts of up to 80% off equipment, outerwear, and apparel…this is definitely the place to stock up. Our selection of over 60 brands include Burton, Ride, K2, Salomon, Forum, Lib Tech, 4FRNT, The North Face, Elan, Dalbello, Nordica and Dakine so there’ll be something for any skier or boarder on your list.

This year, plan on adding discounted passes and lift tickets to your list, too– resorts like Mountain Creek, Windham, Killington, Hunter, Tuxedo Ridge, Hidden Valley, Shawnee, Elk Mountain, and Stowe will be there offering exclusive deals.  Also, enter to win vacations from Jackson Hole, Mammoth Mountain, Telluride, and Squaw Valley.

We’ll be hosting our event inside the 44,000 sq. ft. GridIron Club, the sleek, VIP section located in the west section of the stadium. Don’t worry about getting on the list though, the public’s allowed admission free of charge. The New Meadowlands has a pretty impressive resume, serving as a great setting for our sale. clubentranceOut of every stadium in the US, it’s got the most HD screens, is 3rd largest, one of the most environmentally-friendly, (and also most expensive…) so naturally, we’re looking forward to invading .

Sale begins Wednesday Dec 8th and runs through Saturday Dec 11th…only 2 weeks away so send Santa that wishlist asap! Check out our event website for more information on location, schedule, and other sale details. For all the latest updates, you can also follow Mount Everest on Twitter.

See you at the stadium!

Celtek SLSH Collection

On 11, Nov 2010 | No Comments | In News | By Lisa

CELTEK is one of our favorite brands at Mount Everest. Not only do they make solid product, but their support for grassroots causes shows that they’re good guys too. The Clan backs unique art, riders from all walks of life and a cause close to our hearts; local shops. Recently, CELTEK collaborated with 8 core shops to develop pipe gloves individually designed to rep each one.  The SLSH Collection, which stands for “Support Local & Support Here”, features signature models for retailers that supported the brand from it’s early days and will be available soon at Milosport, the Youth Shelter Supply, Easy Rider, Shred Shop, Tactics, World Boards, Evo, and Damage.

SLSHSLSH

Boasting original artwork from each shop, local riders can high-five and rep their hometowns at the same time. Co-founders Erik & Bjorn Leines summarized the inspiration for the project by stating;

“The feeling of going in to a real snowboard shop for the first time is a mixture of wonder, intimidation, and stoke. It’s usually the moment when you become snowboarder and stop being “someone who snowboards”. We wanted to let these shops have total control… and give the ability to fly the flag of people that bust ass every day to make sure that snowboarding stays awesome…they are the heart of snowboarding, and deserve to be recognized.”

Nicely put, Celtek. [and hey, have you thought about adding any East Coast shops? hint, hint...]
