The goal of the series is to give something back to the kids. Deviating from the established way snowboard contests are run, we put our heads together and came up with a fresh format. Instead of having three rails in a row, we put them side by side to create a rail zone. This boosts the energy level and fun nature of the contest because everyone is together, riding, hiking, and watching in a big group. There are four divisions; 15 & under, 16 & over, Girls and Open (pro-am). The contest runs in a jam format so there are no scheduled runs. You can hit each of the rails as many times as you want during your 20 minute heat. The judges only care about tricks you pull, so you don’t need to worry about falling. The event is absolutely free, on a first come first serve basis, and boasts tons of free prizes and PB&J sandwiches! Also, Everyone who enters walks away with a t-shirt and stickers!! See you on the hill!

After a long week of debating, I bought my plane ticket. I threw down 80% of my summer earnings to buy a plane ticket to Santiago, Chile. Encouraged by the Jersey heat and my craving for snow, I was ready to drop everything and head south to compete in the Chilean Freeskiing Championships from August 22-26th at Ski Arpa. I am a competitive big mountain freeskier, and the Chilean Freeskiing Championships were set to be the kick-off event for the 2012-2013 Freeride World Qualifier competition season.
Three days after buying my ticket however, the organizers of the competition announced to everyone’s disappointment, that the competition would have to be cancelled due to the lack of snowfall for the whole month of July in Central Chile.
Central Chile seemed to have inherited our 2011-2012 winter. Disappointed and frustrated, I prepared for battle with Air Canada and compiled a list of reasons why the airline should have mercy and give a ski bum her money back.
Then, something amazing happened. Read more…
All hail the Burton Hail! Soft yet supportive, with the fluid motion of a tweaked articulating cuff and the combined cushioning of an oversized airbag plus ultra cush footbed, the Hail boot is simply a staple of Burton’s lineup. The Flex Liner unlocks medial/lateral movement for a more natural feel, while the puffy tongue will not kink, enhances wrap, and softens the pressure of tightly cranked straps.

The Salomon BBR is a ski like no other ski ever made. An oversized, surfboard like tip and rocker shape enable the ski to float in powder and adapt to uneven terrain smoothly and predictably. BBR’s narrow waist and pintail, its short radius and short effective edge on-piste provide great grip and playfulness on harder snow. What Salomon calls the “V” shape, is literally 2 skis in one. The new V-shape is characterized by a surf board shaped tip , a narrow waist and a pin tail. The overall result is versatile performance that must be experienced to be believed. Shop the Salomon BBR
